Hi,

What are some meds you guys use when you QT fish or use on a main tank when you suspect or want to prevent parasites, infections, flukes, etc?

Every so often Ive had fish flash/scrape on the ground/decor, and recently Ive had 2 fish get sick and they had trouble breathing, acted lethargic etc, form something I believe affecting their gills.

Ive got salt, Quick Cure and Maracyn. But I'd like some meds that deal with internal problems and a wider range of parasites etc. I just wanna make sure my fish are healthy and be able to treat them to be sure that any parasites are eliminated from my main tank.

Anyone know anything that has proven to work for alot of people, something safe and easy on the fish?

I was thinking of picking up PraziPro and Metronidazole. Anyone have experience with medicated foods?

Basically I jsut wanna treat my main tank to make sure its parasite-free etc.

Thanks

I'd go with something like Jungle Parasite, which has prazi and metro so it covers a wide range of internal parasites

Is this stuff easy on the fish? I tend to stay away from anything that is risky. You think if I treat my mian tank with this theres good chance I will wipe out most parasites, flukes (internal and external) etc?

i do not think there is any med that is easy on a fish. If you think about it, we use salt all the time for fresh water fish. And all the salt does is irratates there skin which makes them produce more of a slime coat. It has alot of benefits as well that I beleive are not harmful or stressful but you can't get one with out the other. ------------As for the jungle stuff, it works good. i use it all the time. The only one you have to be careful with is the fungus clear. It works fantastic, but if you use it over and over it will harm the bio-filter. But if you just use one cycle and then a water change and the second cycle then water and change. It will be fine. i used it every week for a few months on a feeder tank and it eventually killed the bio-bacteria.
