I am planning on building a moss wall for the back side of my tank and i was wondering what would be the best moss to use. i have been looking at several types, but i figured if one of you guys have the experience you may let me have the info. i am going to use plastic mesh doubled over to trap the moss and let it grow through the face. thanks oh and does sphagnum moss work for aquariums? i have a lot of that in the woods by my house.

Definitely christmas moss. It grows in very neat and looks nicer when grown in as a wall or attached to something.

Another vote for christmas, although fissidens could be pretty cool. You don't need a particularly large portion. A small goftball sized portion of java moss took over half of a 30 gallon in about 3 months. I had enough to completely fill a 15 gallon that I used for shrimp.
Well If you would want to do a beautiful moss wall.. then I'd say yes. But if you are just trying to grow it normally then no.
