State of chaos
I just saw on the news, with the storm in NY/NJ, tons of neighborhoods are without power, possibly til tomorrow
Best of luck to MFK'ers, and their fish

i live in nassau county, and thank god, i still have my power

my wife who lives in suffolk (thank god not with me anymore) hasent had power since 6pm last night.

storm did a number on the island, lots of trees down.

Hoping all of you in the storms path are okay..

I'm in South Jersey about 15 minutes outside of Philly. Still have power but my basement is flooding. That sucks. I also have a shore house in Ocean City, NJ. The streets are flooded (my little VW wouldn't make it through the streets) and there is some wind damage to the siding , but other than that, I still have power. Other than the flooded basement and broken siding, I've been lucky.

I was having a great Saturday evening, than BAM powers out. First i tend to other things than come to the tank and take out the filter media and put it in the tank, than i check the temperature to keep track at how fast it was falling, than i just sat around in the dark. Than like an hour later the temperature is still good. So i fell asleep at 1am. Than i get up at 6am on Sunday and the temperature is 72 (was 84) and the house is freezing. The food in the fridge and freezer was spoiling and the electric company doesn't have any competition so they weren't doing anything about it. I was definitely lucky because just a couple hours before the outage, i did a water change and cleaned one of the filters. All day i was adding boiling water by dripping it in. That kept it stalbe for only a couple hours. well after the long and bad day (i found .50nitrite) i used what little phone battery power i had left to text my mfk friend and ask him to check the internet and see if my school was closed. Trees every where were down, powerlines down, some houses were flooded and some were destroyed by trees. Well anyway it turned out that school was off today. So i had time to properly restore my tanks to their somewhat original state. When i woke up this morning, all the fish were alive. Not only alive, but the datnoids were so stable. Stable with nitrite, no food for 2 days before and murky water? And i couldn't get them stable with pristine water and 5X daily bloodworm/mysis/brine shrimp feedings.

Well i setup the filters again and the tank is getting better. The fish are active and even the delhezi is exploring.

I am really thankful that this didn't last until Tuesday, because that was when they said it would be back on, and by that time i would be so fed up with the problems.

The datnoids are still stable and i hope it sticks ;)
