I would really like to get some crystal red and crystal black shrimp for my planted tank and the stores here never have them/wont get them. im in florida,

best places online are in other forums from private sellers. what grades are you looking for? if you want good grades from ss to sss i know someone that is selling them for a good price and his shrimps are good quality. from ss-sss. you can find low grades from a-s for faily cheap. sign up on plantedtank.net and go to the swap n shop area.a lot of people there selling all kinds of shrimps.

my planted tank is only 20G. id like 6 or 8 of each.

they dont need to be highest grade, but i dont want reject grade, lol.

aquabid seems to work in too high numbers for someone like me. i dont need 50 shrimp, considering i already have a healthy stock of cherries in there.

If your cherries are thriving, it makes me wonder what your source water is like (pH and hardness as well as temp of the tank).

Crystal reds and blacks are quite nice, but not nearly as flexible to parameters as neocaridina are.

They like soft, cool water. While they won't hybridize with your cherries, they are not always easy to keep together because of their very different needs.

i think they would be alright. the water is slightly acidic and the temp is around 76-78 at all times. of course, this would be another reason why i dont want to buy a bunch of them.

didn't you used to sell inverts? do you still and do you have shrimp?

i still sell inverts ;) Its my specialty actually though I don't care for the line bred species like crystal reds adn blacks. I do sometimes get in wild bee shrimp. My focus is more on indian species of dwarf shrimp.

76 is too warm for most crystal reds or blacks. They really prefer a temp in the low 70s

I recommend buying from breeders you can talk to on the forums. The Planted Tank forum is the best that I have seen for shrimp breeders. Aquabid is also good but you are limited to the one thing being sold. I much prefer to talk to a breeder/seller on the forum so we can come to an agreement on what exactly I want.
