Here are the following essentials you should stock just in case. They are very important tools so regardless of the circumstances, you must have them.
1. Table salt (avoid ones with yellow prussiate)
2. Dimilin/trichlorfon (combat for external parasites such as anchorworms)
3. Praziquantel (for flukes and internal parasites)
4. Forceps/Tweezers
5. Laboratory tools (including scissors and scalpel)
6. Spare towel
7. Iodine solution
8. Melafix/Pimafix (optional; clean water is good substitute)
9. Battery-operated airpumps and batteries
10. Spare filter medias/sponge filters
11. Clove oil (also called eugenol)/Finquel
12. Broad spectrum antibiotics. Maracyn and Maracyn 2, Kanamycin and Tricide Neo are useful.

For your EBJD, as part of quarantine procedures in eliminating a wide range of parasites, you could dose 0.1% solution of salt which is equivalent to a teaspoon per gallon otherwise keep it aside for now unless you observe unusual symptoms particularly frequent scratching of the same body area. This may indicate costia, ich, trichodina, flukes, etc so be on the watch out for those.

Do you mean prevent parasites long term? Are these fish new to you? Good quarantine procedures for new fish would prevent an introduction of a new parasite to your fish. I don't do preventative medication or stock meds as they have a shelf life. I don't like medicating unless there is a problem as it adds stress to the fish.

As a victim of a few parasite outbreaks, I can tell you they all stem back to not useing clean equipment/proper QT. If you dont mix nets, keep your hands clean, and QT any fish before it is introduced into your tank, and practice proper tank husbandry. Your odds of developing a parasite problem are slim to none. Parasite infections 99.99999% of the time will ride in on somthing, that is infected, like your hands or a net, live food or even water from an infected tank. It wont just show up like a bacterial or fungal infection. So give your EBJD tank its own siphon, nets ect. make sure your hands are clean before you stick them in it, QT any new fish, feed quality food, keep their tank clean and your chances of having a parsite problem will be dramaticaly reduced. Fungus and bacteria are a diffrent beast all together, but ill take a case of velvet or fin rot any day over a case of camallanus worms.
