I have thought about trying my hand at pbass for a couple of years but just never made the jump. I'm finally going to give them a go and just wanted everyones opinion on what is the best fish to start with. I just want a nice looking fish that isn't going to cost a fortune. Are any of them easier to keep, pellet train, hardier, etc? I was thinking about just getting a small group of mono's as they always look nice. Suggestions anyone?

probably a Mono, although peacock bass are alot alike the only main differences are the colors and the size they can grow to so if you have a big enough tank you could even go Temensis or if you really wanted an awesome one you could go for an Orino or even an Azul.

Thanks. Depending upon what size I get they will either go directly into a 220g with a black aro and flagtail or into a 50g growout tank if they are small. I have plenty of live food that I raise myself. Once they outgrow the 220g I have a 600g pond that they could stay in. Ideally I would prefer to keep them in the 220g for life but I'm not sure that is possible.

You could probably keep a Mono for quite a while/life in a 220 but a temensis and an azul would outgrow it but could stay in there for a while

I was thinking like 3 bass along with the aro and flagtail. Anyone have any idea how long that would work before I would have to move them? I was hoping at least 2 years or so.

what are the tank dimensions i would say they could probably last around 2 years in there but it really depends on the fishes growth and how often you feed them
