Hey guys,

Just wondering what are good pellets to pellet train dats with?
Sinking or floating?

Also is it safe to train 2-3 inch dats or should they be at a bigger size before attempting to starve-train them?

Thanks,
Swarsh

I use carnivore pellets for my small dats and they eat them fine smallest being about 2 inches.
I have some very small ones and wont try to train them as they are to small but most the time i find that they watch the other dats take the pellet and start eaiting them so i have not had any problems pellet training.

Hmm I was thinking about trying the hikari cichlid gold pellets as they are quite a size bigger than prima.

I will look out for the carnivore pellets when i head to my LFS tomorrow!

Thanks mate,
Swarsh

I always like sinking, because as it sinks, it emulates somewhat live food ..

Hmm yeah, but the problem is... once it sinks... it stays and will not "move" :P
so yeah dead haha =P

But yeah I have two dats that take pellets and they usually wait for them to start sinking before taking them so I guess sinking may be better.

Thanks,
Swarsh

you can get the cichlid gold that sinks look on petsupermarket or vetuk they are some of the lowest prices they also do carnivore and massivore pellets.

i just had an email from petsupermarket and they have 10% of fish food for the next 48hours just use the code fish10 at the checkout

happy shopping

The carnivore pellets are the "Hikari Tropical Sinking Carnivore Pellet" right?
are they all the same size?

I think I might try those.

yeah they are the same size they only do them in 1 size thats what i feed my small dats then you can step up to the small pack of massivore then go for the bigger bag which the pellet is larger again.
but i use carnivoe and my dats have grown loads since eating them.
