Last large fish i owned was a flowerhorn and that thing pretty much ate everything. my new jag seems to be a little fincky(new fish) was wondering what a good staple pellet or stick would be. will also feed krill, silversides, and prawn. ive read hikari is good, and tetra jumbo sticks just mess up the water. really want my manguense to shine, so health is the most important. gunna try and make this gu live to 15!

NLS great high quality food great for health and color will pop.

NLS is my personal pellet of choice and I know many members here who stand behind it. It is a great all around pellet food. They make NLS pretty big I am sure you will find one a brand big enough for your jag. How big is he at the moment? You may have to order online. When it comes to what people feed their cichlid there are going to be many different answers. Top brands I would recommend are NLS, omega one, and kens fish food.

As you may already know diet will not be a determining factor when it comes to health and lifespan of your fish. It will also depend on clean water as well as tank size.

NLS is great and cheap. Only issue I've had are the pellets being too dense so some of my fish spit it out because they're too large. Usually you have to go a lot smaller than you would with other brands such as hikari

x2 I agree with that its very dense and sometimes because of this its hard to switch fish over to nls, from something else but Nls, and Hikari are two of the best imo

I agree NLS is my first choice for cichlid pellets, but I like to give my fish a variety of foods. I'll use NLS 4-5 days a week, and the other couple days use hikari or tetra cichlid pellets. I'll also mix in some freeze dried food occasionally, and once a week I skip pellets altogether and use frozen bloodworms or frozen shrimp.

I have some 10mm NLS they make all sizes of pellets. Amazon has great pricing. If you buy the 5 pound pale it will last forever. I say 2mm pellets for fish at 1.5-4 inches. Larger fish get larger pellets
