Wondering what everyone considers to be the best pellet for predators such as chitala, arowana, and other similar insectivorous/piscivorous fish. I have always used Hikari to entice these fish into eating pellets as they seem to be easy to wean on to. The amount of fillers in the Hikari pellets are not the best however. I want to see what other, healthier options exist.

My polys, ropefish and fahaka love bug bites. I feed the floating cichlid pellets, pleco bites, and the color enhancing granules to them all. Even though the color enhancing ones are tiny my big polys search them out. Then go for the pleco/bottom feeder sticks. I feed the fahaka mostly the cichlid pellets and a couple of the bottom feeder sticks each time.

I feed mostly Northfin Krill Pro 6mm to my Frontosa.

I have a tank with cichla, arowana, giraffes and a few other misc fish. Primary diet is Hikari Jumbo Carnisticks and I supplement that w/ a little of several other mfg's products including blood worms, shrimp and a variety of pellets. It's been my experience that once you get this type of fish eating the Hikari product you may find that transitioning them to another mill's product isn't the easiest thing you'll do that day.

I have become quite a fan of Northfin jumbo carnivore pellets; I forget what they actually call them, but they are a sinking pellet aimed at predatory cats and other non-surface feeders. I like them because they are Canadian-made, can sometimes be found on sale, are eagerly accepted by all of my big carnivores (one fish!) and...best of all...can be safely fed without starting an argument with other aquarists about the best food to use...:)

I dare you to try that with Hikari...:)
