What are some of the very best brands of pellet foods for bichirs?

Besides all the fozen foods I feed, I currently feed Hikari carnivore sinking pellets, and am happy with it, but would like some more diversity in pellets for them, beside that one.

I was feeding HBH African Cichilid Attack and Omega One too, but someone told me at a petstore that I could be doing better.

I notice alot of Cichlid foods have alot of wheat, wheat middlings, and soy in them. That doesn't seem good for a carnivore's diet.

So the same lady, told me about New Life Spectrum foods, and I bought some, but mine could care less for it.

Is there anything else I could try?

It's just how I am with my animals. I like to feed the most nutrtious and most natural foods I can. Keeps them way healthier adn they live longer.

they will take longer to accept new life spectrum you have to starve them before they will take any. my polys also take Hikari Cichlid Gold sinking type with gusto. you just have to try diffrent things. who knew that my bigger polys would take new life spectrum H2O Wafers on the first try! the food looks like algae wafers!

I just make my own food that is pretty diverse. I make a shrimp/fish and a beef heart version. Basically I take the protein source and zap it in the food processor, I then add in shrimp pellets that are crushed, tubiflex worms (dried), blood worms (dried), and a quality flake food and mix it in to a thick paste, spread it out between to sheets of wax paper about 1/2" thick and then I score it in to squares and freeze. I can tell you that all my fish LOVE this stuff and I have not seen a single health issue in the 5 years I have had my biggest sen and my albino that I have had for 3 years is doing very good as well. If anyone thinks there is something lacking in the bichir mix, please let me know. Oh yeah, sometimes I throw in some algae wafers too.

Maybe HBH pellets (the ones with krill) and was the omega one stuff the sinking shrimp pellets?

my sens loves to steal my cichlid's hikari cic pellets and he seems to be doing great on a diet of those sinking shrimp pellets and freeze dried mysis shrimp

I would say hikari is the best brand

Mine enjoy Omega One and Hikari!
