In the near future I will be getting a 90 gallon for my boys room. I am looking for ideas on a hard hit predatory fish that could live for life in this tank. He has showed interest in vampire tetra's. If possible do a small school of three and have heard with vampire tetra's that if one doesn't stay up to size it will get knock off which i would see happening with any predator species. thanks for the fish ideas

Checked those guys out and saw some YouTube videos of them. Had red bellies at one point but they are way to skiddish and shy but the exodon do not seem that way thanks for the recommendation

I just got 13 exodons for my 55 and can say that they're not skiddish at all. Mine actually have been swimming by themselves since I got them but the moment anyone walks by the tank they school up until they're comfortable. As for feeding time, they hit the flakes hard and when I dropped them a large piece of krill they all attacked it very similar to how a school of rbp`s would. Only downside is price, I paid 80 for the 13 I got which isnt a bad deal at all. But for filling up a 90, you'll be looking at anywhere from 2 to 4 dozen which could get very pricey.

I do have a 65 gallon 36 x 18 may redo and do 90 gallon different or think of a bit big fish but loving the exodon the more I watch videos of them

Either that or get my favorite, a New world cichlid... u could get a Red Devil, Midas, Festae, a pair of Salvini`s, red tiger motaguense... to name a few. you'd have quite a few options with 90 gallons for 1 of the larger cichlids. Don't know how familiar u are with them but a lot of them are very interactive, gotta be 1 of, if not the most intelligent freshwater species... walk by the tank, look over, and there they are just staring at u until u feed them. Better than any schooling fish, IMO

Florida gar.. other perks they are fairly low maintence and do best in species only set-ups. Otherwise maybe a rainbow wolf fish? good many toothy fish to fit a 90.

I agree, exodons would be great for a 90 gallon. But then again like the other guy said it would be expensive for the amount you will need for a big school.

Unfortunately spotted, Florida, and alligator gar are not allowed here nor are bowfins and snakeheads. But would love to have a alligator gar for my pond.

And like the SA cichlid but have a 150 with them already and looking for something more toothy.

Have looked at wolf fish before and like them too. But would like a ground or at least a trio maybe. Would rainbow wolves work with three in the 90
