Hello, first post, Just set up a 125Gal, biggest one so far but going to be a dwarf compared to the next tank planned. I have already hid the heaters in a custom module under the tank and am looking for some good sized pieces of driftwood to make a setup to cover the inlet and outlet of the pump. Im going for the "o'natural" look. I do live up in canada and well I saw a real nice piece of malaysian at my lfs but they wanted 100$ for it, little rich for me. Any advice or help would be great.

If you live around any big rivers you could pick some driftwood up there, thats what I do.

go collecting buddy...it will be much more satisfying than dishing out dough!

Just wanted to add that whenever my buddies and I want to add something to our tanks like driftwood or rocks we find ones we like and treat them ourselves. I boil and scrub the rocks I use for my tank and my buddies have soaked and made their own driftwood a few time. It's more fun to put the work into making your own,

I agree! Makes me feel good knowing i ddnt just but a piece of wood for 100 bucks when i could just go out and find it. BTW What exactly do u treat the wook with?

I haven't actually done my driftwood just big rocks for caves but my friends boiled their wood and then soaked it a few days before putting it in their tank so that it would sink on its own but if it doesn't sink on it's own you could always attach it to a piece of slate.

wow great thanks for the help! My only concern is that shouldnt i be looking for a hardwood? we have a lot of pine, fir, spruce up in bc canada but i heard you should only use hardwood that has blackend meaning its dried enough, dont want green wood the article said. Otherwise id love to go for a hike and pick some up.
