let's hear it

by rare i mean not the usual stuff like altifrons, leucos, etc. i already have daemon so that's covered. i want bright colors, rare/uncommon to find :headbang2

where's the best place? i bet there are a few geo hoarders out there so they should know! hehehe

I just looked at trilbytropicals.com. I had to order replacement parts for my eheim filter. They have a few different species. Also a few gymnogeophagus also. I'm not sure if the ship though.

Have you checked TUIC? Jeff usually has some diferent types each week.

Aside from Jeff, you really have to just keep a close eye on different vendors stock list and pics. Sometimes a vendor/lfs's "Surinamensis" can be something much better. The fact is, with such little knowledge on the proper identification of most species in this genus by exporters/vendors(and pretty much in general), there are probably plenty of rare geos that come into this country unnoticed.

Keep an eye on John's(snookn21) stock list. He frequently gets in Geo's from various parts of SA.

haha i knew everyone would reply :)
thanks for the tips. i checked trilbytropicals.com and it's interesting... there are definitely neat things on there. the thing with vendor lists is because the descriptions sometimes do not do the actual fish justice through mislabeling. i pass on a lot of the jurupari or surinamensis for that reason

try to find a local club, if you're in a big city you probably have local breeders.

there's a guy in Michigan that breeds and imports rare Geo's. it's been a while for since my Geo days but pm me and i'm sure i'll have a contact name for you by weeks end.
