I am going to be picking up a new 110 soon and can't decide where the best place to drill for the overflow. Should I drill the bottom and use stand pipes, or drill the back and build a weir? That do you guys think?

Alot of tank bottoms are tempered, so beware.

I have a perfecto 5ft 110g tank and the side glass is 3/8" standard glass and the bottom is 1/4" tempered.

If you are set on drilling then i would look at a over flow box style over flow that installs by drilling thru the back panel.

I forget which company makes them, but they are cheaper on ebay anyway.

Thanks, according to Marineland there are no tempered panels on this tank. I think i will probably go through the back, but i was just wondering what everybody else thought.

it really depends if u need the wall space or not. if you wanted the tank as close to the wall as possible drill the bottom. If thats not a concern I would do the back.

That looks pretty sweet, and would give me my 1000GPH+ i will need, I wonder how loud it would be

Never mind just watched the vid, pretty quiet

I decided to drill the back, and went ahead and designed an overflow. What do ya think? should work right?
