Best place to find wild or abandoned aquarium fish

I suppose it depends on where you are. I'm in Central AR, rolling hills, small ponds, creeks, bigger rivers, lots of swampy forest, cows, and corn.
I recently put together my first cheap native paludarium, and I want to do a bigger native tank but I need more old cheap tanks first.
Anywho I got my plague minnows and tadpoles down in an isolated eddy of a creek near my house that was rapidly drying out. Super easy that, just scoop with my net in an inch or two of water under a log. Once I had my tank set up and the plants establishing, and I knew my spot I had more than enough stock in less than 5min.
The next one is going to be from a different creek about 10 miles out into the boonies. Shallow, rocky, kinda wide, fish swim around your feet as you wade though it. Really pretty sunfish, lots of minnows and crayfish, and I find things I don;t know what they are down there.
So creeks after a dry spell for me.
