So, I'm finishing up purchases of the things I want and am trying to make every dollar stretch.

So, I have 2 Eheim Pro IIs completely empty. I need media and pads for them. What should I put in them? Where is the best place to get it online?

I also have a Fluval 405 that is Empty. What media should I use in this? where should I get it.

I'm also looking for 3/4" Loc-line. I went to my LFS and 1' of line. 2 Flares, 1 Y, and 1 3/4" fitting was $48.00. It has to be cheaper online. Suggestions?

Links to the best online retailers would be fine. but being these 2 Eheim Pro II, and this Fluval 405 are the first times I am going to run canisters I'd like some direct feedback as to what media to use, what baskets to put it in, and what pads to put where.

I'm also looking for some K1 Media, Anyone know the best bang for buck location to order that from?

Thanks
Mike

local fish stores, dollar stores, home improvement stores, big als online, that pet place. The list can go on and on. Do a quick search on here and it will show you some ideas

Hey Maverick,

For fittings, head to Home Depot. Most PVC fittings are anywhere from under $1 up to $3. Tubing is cheap as well.

For filter material, you can look for batting (I think that's what it's called) and sponge material at sewing stores (man, there's a huge one by me and I can't think of the name of it at the moment). Wal-Mart also carries these types of materials. When looking at sponge material, give it a "rub test". Rub your hand over it while pressing down. Make sure it doesn't crumble or flake. With the batting material, give it a firm stretch and make sure it doesn't pull apart.

mrqtandy recently made a post on an online supplier of ceramics. I don't know of any local stores besides LFSs or any DIY for for bio balls, etc.

Hope this helps!
