So both my Apistos Died :/ I have no idea why..... but all the other fish are fine...............
Currently in the tank
- 5 honey gourami
- 2 sparkling gourami
- 6 cories
- 2 mystery snails

I tried GBR and they died. I tried Apistos and they also both passed. What am I doing wrong??? Those are the only fish that have been dying in my 35........... Any better options? I hope it wasn't because I was caring for them wrong :(

All 4 fish that died became very pale or too colored. Blackend eyes and passed....... whats wrong :(

Temperature was at a constant 75ish.

It's a cycled tank. All other fish I had were fine except those guys :(

Is there any other options or should I stay away from these guys?

Big stab in the dark here but based on what did well vs what did not I am guessing your water is harder than what apistos like. I could be wrong and there could be a myriad of things that could have killed them. GBR can have iridovirus or megalocytivirus issues, but I would look for a simpler explanation. Most of what I am going to recommend assumes you aren't looking for a natural biotope just a nice tank with nice fish and plants.

If hardness is the issue Kribs can spawn in just about any water. Rainbow cichlids would spawn in there but might tear up your plants. A fish I have been enjoying is the buffalo head cichlid. I don't think they will destroy plants but I don't have any with mine. A pair of Julidochromis could work in there. If you want to go outside of cichlids wood cats are more of a "pipe breeding" fish but could be fun. I always think about trying empire gudgeons or desert gobies. Bushy nose are another option, but I just pulled my super reds out of my planted tank because I was tired of the plants getting munched. There are probably more options, but nothing else jumps out at me right now.

Probably. I just went through major issues with the tank and maybe they didn't handle it well. On top of that the water hardness was around 8........

Anyways..... looking at your suggestions peacock gudgeons popped in my head for some reason lol. How bout them?

Peacocks would be fine as well.
Hmm, I thought about it and my water is very hard. 8.4ish to 8. My other fish do ok but I don't think Apistos or rams can handle ph that high.

Are any of the fish you listed good for high ON. I don't want to to kirbensis as mine bit up my angels in my 46g and chased them to corner in my tank.

Anything Juliochromis, Neolamprologus, Lamprologus, Altolamprologus - really anything Tanganyikan that isn't too big or herbivorous or Brichardi complex would work. They like hard water and are plant safe.
