I’ve got this 12” albino I’ve not added to my new 625g as I don’t want it to scratch the inside.

Meanwhile, driftwood looking really shabby and Alge growing on acrylic...

Are these ok? I’ve read they can scratch... or eat divots...

Are Flag-tails better/safer?

I've also read similar things - on the internet including MFK. I've also heard it was more so with "bigger plecos" and not an issue with fancy smaller species. I have a gold nugget and blue phantom in mine and honestly have not noticed, especially with water.

I use a cleaner magnet about once every 1-2 weeks and not as often. I just try to be careful and I know I'll put more scratches eventually than the plecos.

Tank builder suggest something called great white or something... a magnet , also suggested chemical free magic eraser.

Just want to keep it as nice as possible for as long as possible.

I bought that 12” Albino for the tank before I’d heard of the potential damage.

May play it safe and get a Flagtail....

I have a tiger shark magnet from the same company. Tiger shark because I have 3/4" acrylic and didnt want much stronger magnets. I've also tried with magic eraser. :)

You have had success with both? Mines 3/4” too... I’ll take a look for the tiger shark...

My driftwood is gonna look atrocious....

I first tried my L-114 in there 5”-6” but almost 2” thick... he eats... they were on his ass in seconds had to pull him out... 6” Chinese Alge eater has been the thug of my fish room in all my tanks for sometime... Bass 10” moved wood to get him... not so sad about that loss as he fought with all the fish...

Thanks all for comments and suggestions!

I think the magnet works as you would expect. It comes with the white pad that you'll overlay for the inside cleaner piece. I dont use the plastic blade so don't know first hands if it's good. I like the fact that it floats unlike the Flipper that I had for my glass tank.

Eraser worked well. I don't like how it begins to crumble as you fold and squeeze. There's some discussions in reefer forums for how there could be negative effects of smaller particles on coral. That's not our concern here. I still have it as part of my cleaning tool lol.
