I have a 125gal that is sort of in limbo, and am wondering what the best looking predatory african cichlids were, and how I would go about stocking it. :nilly:

Give me a whole stocklist and other suggestions please!! I am only slightly versed in the realm of african cichlids. So any and all info will be a great help. :)

3x dimidiochromis compressiceps
3x nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus
3x aristichromis chrystii
6x rhamprochromis macrothalamus
1x champsochromis caeruleus
2x tyrannochromis macrostoma

this group should be fun...mabe a little too many for haps, but those fish are all eating machines, and with some type of val or reed plant will let the compressiceps or macrothalamus act more sneaky and natural.

The above listing is most of the top predatory haps but they are mostly pre-dominantly blue in color. Heres a few more fish to consider that are not mostly blue- Exochochromis Anagenys, Tyrannochromis Nigriventer, Protomelas Taeniolatus, Nimbochromis Venustus. Aulonacara Jacobfribergi "Eureka Red" (actually Orange), Psuedotropheus Crabro.

Which lake? Hmmm....Victoria or Tang probably. I love the Nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus actually. . .and those Champsochromis caeruleus are hott also :) I think we have some juv. Nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus at the LFS that I work at right now too. Hmm. . .

Both of those are from Lake Malawai...I would stick with either, Malawai or Tanganyika...leaning towards Tanganyika. There are ton's of cool predatory Tang's out there. Lepidio sp. Most lamprologines are pretty aggressive and full of personality. I have a Trio of Lepidiolamprologus Pleromaculatus that are big, beefy, and nasty. Just do some research on Tanganyikan lamprologines and you will be hooked.
