best predatory cat for my 180gal tank

im setting up a 180 7ft long and 2ft wide thats for going to be housing 2 9" cichla. im putting in a a few pieces of driftwood for hiding areas and visual effects and havnt decided if im putting substrate or not yet. what type of catfish would be best for the tank.

i really want a 8 to 14" TSN or Lima SN. iv had a marbled sailfin before and wouldnt mind another one of those either. Do TSNxRTC grow as fast and large as RTCs do or is a hybrid also an option?

and just to clear things up...this tank will only house the cat until i can get my 8ft by 3 ft wide tank next year

I think that a rtc or shovelnose will get to big, what about a native like a brown bullhead or a black bullhead.

rtc definitely but a shovelnose has a slower growth rate and will be ok in there for a while id say especially a lima. thanks for post though Owain4

I'd say unless you can find a big Lima to start out with then maybe not cuz your pcocks may try to eat it. Also, they are painfully slow growers. I'd say some like an achara catfish or tsn grow out.

+1 I have one about 12" they are great, very frendly, and easily hand tamed. They are cleaning machines like a part catfish part vacuum.

yea i was thinking Sailfin archara catfish as well or doing a TSN growout. I would live a tigrinus if i could get one that size that isnt $800. lol
