Does seem to vary, I rarely see them but when I do it's usually a high number. Like 500$ per fish for large ones like you are describing.
mrrobxc mrrobxc has zebrine I believe, maybe he has some input?

All supply and demand. Year 1 after Columbia declared peace and fish were being exported again, 1200 was a good price. By year two they dropped to 750-900. Year 3 they were down to 400-650 depending on size. Last year you could buy them on the secondary market for 300 or so.

Today, they moved up to about 450-600 depending on the vendor. 400-500 is a good price retail/online. Secondary market should be a hundred or so less and pick up only. If you pay more, it’s because you really want it and can’t wait.

You make some good points. Does it make sense if one would be willing to wait a year or two they’d drop again?

It’s hard to say. It all depends on the supply and the demand. It fluctuates. Also depends on how many DOA’s a domestic vendor gets in their order. The more DOA’s the higher they charge to make a profit.

I plan to get some this year and will aggressively research vendors to find th best price. I’m willing to pay up to 450-500 a pop regardless of size since they are absolutely gorgeous.
