I've been told that the best pump for my 500 gallon is a Hammer Head pump by Reeflo. Do you guys agree? I searched the internet and these things are expensive. I'm going to need two of them. Where's the best place to buy them?

Thanks.

I got one on my 460 gal. I am running a 120 gallon sump. It is a very powerful pump and very quiet. I got mine off of craigslist for $100 I think.

I had 2 Snapper pumps on my 500 and the water never cleared up entirely. I was told my turnover rate probably wasn't sufficient and that a Hammer Head pump would do a better job. It's interesting that you are only using one pump. I thought I was told I need 2 pumps, maybe I mis-understood.

i got my 3200 gph pump off ebay for 100$ brand new and a 3 year warranty. Those hammerheads are great if you have an extra car payment laying around ;)
quote for truth, my pond's primary 6600gph Anjon monsoon works great and cost me 150$ brand new with a 2 year warranty

the hammer head pumps may be good, but it doesn't mean they're the best buy.

look into pond pumps, beckett, laguna, etc.

yeah, pond pumps are good. for a tank that size id want around 4500gph+

I'll check out the pond pumps. Thanks for the suggestion. Do the pond pumps run quiet like the Reeflo pumps?

Anyone have a favorite website to get these or does everyone just shop on Ebay? I'm not a huge Ebay fan.

I am a HUGE supporter of ebay. Some say super silent etc... I have a sup silent submersible pump, so it's underwater and really quiet. You can get submersible pumps that pump 4500+ if they are pond pumps. Those will always be quieter than externals, and you don't have to drill ****.
