I read the sticky above about the silicone, but in all honesty, its Japanese to me. I know nothing about the silicone terms/vocabulary etc. and just realized a problem that I have to address today, quickly!

I have a 265 gallon in use, no back up tank big enough to put all my fish in, and have a steady leak in the top left corner. Ive noticed pieces of silicone in the water, so Im guessing my Trimac has pulled the silicone off once he saw a tiny piece sticking off.

I have corner overflows so lowering the tank level (to buy time) so that I can research, try, look around, learn everything about silicone like I typically have/would for any other problem, isnt much of an option.

Are the silicones most of you use or swear by available at Home Depot? Lowes? If so, are there ones that dry quickly? If so, can any of you please give me a product number or brand name /#?

Any help is appreciated!

They are all pretty much the same in terms of dry time and cure time.

Run air stones in both the sump and the tank while you are waiting for the silicone to cure. Feed very lightly in the mean time. Also, to keep the filter happy, run some tank water into it daily.

You can run the sump with the water low while you are there to watch it by setting up a syphon to the sump. Get some PVC parts to make a hook to go over the edge of the tank. Lowes has a fitting that lets you attach hose to the PVC.

Duh...I didnt even think of that! Thanks for the suggestion. I have a sump pump that I can plop right in the sump. Its what I used when my pump went out and I had to wait 6 days for a new one to come via UPS

Thanks!
