What are the best selling c/a cichlids at your lfs ask this q because im geting 5 or 6 40 gallon breeders and some 30 to 55 for grow out tanks the fish im thinking about starting with are 1 pair of salvini, one pair of blue cons, 1 pair of fire mouths,1 pair jd I also have a pair of trimacs but these fish dont sell around here out of all the stores i sold them to no ones sold one. along with the jd i would like to try the golden morph. what are some other small to med size cichlids that would be some good additions to my collection they would have to spawn in a ph of8.4

Probably Jack Dempsey or Oscar's probably sell the best.
At a Pet Store near my house they sell Carpinte marked as Green Terrors lol.
I bet those sell decent though.

Oscars and Dempseys are probably the highest volume sellers. Every lfs seems to keep them in stock. Then they sell them to 10 year old kids with 20 gallon tanks lol.
I'd definitely avoid convicts. Some stores won't even take them for free because there's always a surplus of them.
Do you have big chain stores in your area? If you do (such as Petsmart), I'd avoid the fish that tend to look good there. In my area, at least, Petsmart stocks some beautiful Midas, JD, and Firemouth. I know they don't stock species such as salvini, and their Oscars can be pretty icky. I think either of those species would sell well.

While I don't shop at any of my LFS's If I ever pop into any of them it looks like Texas, Oscars, Severums and Convicts. I order everything for my hobby from Big Al's, Jeff Rapps and Aquabid.

they've been selling terrible fish lately.
parrot x festae's and such.
their good for bigger fish, people are always trading in p. syns. and large dovii.
sometimes their will even be like 8" festae there.
they have a few flowerhorns but never really any that look spectacular.
their canister filters are over priced as balls though.
African cichlids sells best here but for New Worlds I would have to say the regulars: Red Devils, JD, Firemouth, Convicts, Green Terrors, etc.
Honestly not going to get much for New World cichlids. Another thing is most lfs don't really want to take in any fishes under 3" so you'll have to put in time raising them up. Your Trimacs will probably be best seller, just be careful they don't relist them as FH lol.

There's a reason oscar fish have been a mainstay in the hobby for like 30 years now - most fish fluctuate in popularity back and forth over a few years timespan...I don't think I've ever been to an LFS that doesn't have oscars.
