Best show tank cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is a very difficult question to answer when considering all of the different variables (tank size, preference, experience, stocking, etc.). Seeing as how you posted this question in the CA/SA forum, most will probably respond as proponents for this type of show tank.

No need to choose between the two. I keep both CA and African in the same tank. CA and African have similar water requirement, and the difference is the size. I pick large mellow CA to match with medium and small Africans. I provide a lot of rock caves for small Tangs to hide and breed within.

A solo show fish? There are lots that you can go with, it just depends on what you like in a fish. Any of these would be fine as a show fish in your 90 and would be pretty impressive, attractive, and pretty interactive. Solo male jaguar cichlid, male green texas, male midas, male red devil, male flowerhorn, male black nasty, male argentea, etc. There are lots of choices, just pick the one you like best in terms of looks and personality.
