I just wanted to say this is one of the best signs I've ever seen at a zoo.
I think it shows that they are highly aware of what an animal needs, and won't just toss stuff in a display for the sake of having it out there.
This was taken at the Ft Worth Zoo's Great Barrier Reef display.
They did have 2 wobbs an an eppaulette still on display with signs talking about how not all sharks look like "sharks".

I wish more fish keepers had that sign on their tanks! LOL

Agreed - It shows a commitment to that animals basic needs - which I wish many private aquarists had.

Also makes want to ask - How big is their Great Barrier Reef Display so that Blacktip Reef Sharks outgrow it?

It was pretty small for a zoo, but still 'big'. 20 feet long and 6-8 feet front to back. I'd guess maybe 8 feet deep. The zoo has a brand new state of the art 20,000 square foot aquarium building in the works.

Thanks Matt - it certainly explains why the Blacktip reefs out grow the tank.

Well with a new 20,000 sq.ft Aquarium Building - hopeful they'll build a new Great Barrier Reef Display - maybe something in the area of at least 1,500 sq.ft and about 80,000-100,000 gallons would be Awesome. That way they could easily keep full grown Blacktip Reefs. But that just MPO. ;)

Yeah, the pic of the actual sharks they had showed VERY young pups. It listed correct adult size and info about them - which is another thing I liked to see.

All the fish looked mostly healthy and active. Needed some scrubbing, but I'm a picky one when it comes to details for displays like that.
