Hey all

i have read through some posts on this, and the numbers seem to vary ... a lot

i have just bought a 90 gallon and was thinking about putting it on the first floor, above a finished basement. the 90 gallon is very heavy empty. it does not have a center brace or anything. it seems to be like 1/4 to 1/2 inch glass all the way around.

my home is 6 years old, new construction.

please let me know what info you might need, and i will try and get it ASAP. i will try to get a pic of the joists, and the room its going into.

also, what can i do to the stand to make it spread the weight more evenly, etc.

it will be sitting on the click-n-lock faux hard wood floor, will that work?

i have only ever had up to 55's so now since i am venturing a little bigger, i am getting a bit more cautious

thanks

It was my understanding that you can place anything up to 125 gallon just about anywhere as long as there aren't any major structural defects.

Disclaimer: I'm no expert, but this is what I've read a few different places and the guy at my LFS said the same thing.

Google "aquarium floor weight" and you'll find some pretty detailed articles about this topic.

thats what i hoped... just was googling and every so often would run across an article saying ..."i am an engineer and you cant put anything more then a 55 without bracing your house for armegdon"... i will still try and get some pics up of the beams and stuff when i find my camera
