im setting up a few breeder tanks and trying to get ideas for savng space looking nice to stack some 55s or 100s.
bout to set a room just for breeding not sure of the size but wanted to start getting some ideas.
also whatsthe best for the filter? nice sump runing a few tanks?
i looked but couldnt find a sticky or a thread explaing how to make them

I built some breeder stands for both 125 and 55-50 gallon tanks. The 125 stand held 2 tanks and the 55 stand held three. I don't have the stands anymore but I still have a 30 gallon tank stand. I will hold 4 tanks if you put one on top. I just usually just had 3 tanks as the top tank was too high. I also insulated the stand with 1 1/2 inch foam, I also made covers for the front. In the winter the coldest it gets around here is about 40 but I could keep the tanks heated with 50 watt heaters also the insulation helped in the summer when it was 110 and it was even hotter in the garage but the tanks never got above 85 degrees but that was fine for the SH I was breeding. When I built the 125 stand I was just like 30 stand except the horizontal boards that supported the tank weren't 2x4 but 4x4 The 50 gallon stand was just like to 30 stand except for the spacing.

The filters I used were Hagan "Biofoam Doubles"
You can see some of them in the picture, I had a drip line to each tank (connected to my sprinkler system) and I drilled them for overflows. I liked these filters because I could clean one sponge real well and keep the bio going on the other sponge. They also don't take a lot of air to run and I usually had 2 in a tank.

thanks for all info, im going to try to fit like six 55Gals and a few 100Gals for growouts
im trying to find a good sump design

sorry bump!
need to set up this sump and stands!
so it doesnt matter the sump is set up in barrels to the side? like how are the lower tanks going to pull water to the sump using gravity? wouldnt the sump have the be under the stands?

If you want to use a sump, I believe the lowest part of the bottom tank has to be above the top of the barrel, else when the water level in the barrel reaches the same as the bottom tank, water will start flowing to both the bottom tank and the barrel. You can put a check valve on the bottom, but the water won't drain on the bottom tanks when the barrel's water level reaches the same as the bottom tank.
Here is a web site you can check how he breeds Angles.

For lower tanks you can pump the water out into the sump then overflow the water into the tanks as a return?
