hey i am putting together a 125 that will have 2 jack dempseys ( females), 1 green terror, 1 green texas, 1 bristlenose pleco, 3 pictus pim catfish, and either 1 salvini or 1 convict. and i was wondering could i put a payara in there? and if not what fish dosn't go with the payara? and what species of payara? i was thinking a scomb? and where is a good place to get them from? thnx

H. tatauaia or R. vulpinus but I wouldn't put them with the JDs, GT, Texas, or any other aggressive cichlid.

I agree.

H. scomberoids wouldn't go well with those either

Over Aggressive Cichlids will decimate the food supply - they eat more, grow faster, and eliminate competition within the tank - not to mention they create alot of waste and stress niether of which a payara can handle - Why not go with Characins? My 150's - Scomb, 2x Small Yellowtail cudas, large Yellowtail variant cuda, Red tail varient cuda, 2x Red Tail Chalceus, Red tail Puffer, Gangantic Leaf Fish, Black Ghost Knife Fish, Whiptail cat - very active non-aggressive tank. As for which Payara - Tats seem to be most adaptable to captivity from what I'm reading.

Payara's and cuda's are the absolute best tankmates to each other, They are also really awesome in the same tank too, Get about 4-5 Red Tailed Cuda's and 2-3 Scombs.
