I've had a FRT for about 9 months and had a course white gravel which irritates him so I removed it. Not a fan of glass bottoms for them so what do you recommend? I'm thinking sand but don't know what kind to use. Thanks.

Any kind of fine grade sand as there stomachs are very sensitive. Play sand would be ideal. It's very light, you just have to be careful if you have canister or hob filters. FRT do not like bare bottom because of there reflection.

I had playsand in my 36 with a eheim 2217 and had zero issues. Stock was cories, tetras, shimp and angels so there was minimal disturbance. What's an frt?

To my knowledge they are not endangered but close to being there and are illegal to import to Canada and most likely the US. I think this came into effect about 3 years ago. The one I own was purchased legit over 3 years ago and the original owner tried to get another one but couldn't. After a while they were showing up from private sales, most likely people smuggled them in.

There is no one I've heard of that has successfully bread them in North America.

Anyone use peace river or tornado beach by Carib sea? I'm concerned about impaction if any was ever injested.
