At the moment here's my current ray set ups and thinking about shifting around, bare with me.... lots of explaning...

40x30x20inch with a PH of 5.7 currently holds:
9/10" female motoro
7" male motoro
5 3" flag tails
2 lima shovelnose, 5"
spotted shovelnose, 6"

48x36x18inch with a PH of 7.8 holds;
7" flower ray, being a picky eater,
13" Ageneiosus Brevifilis

I was thinking of pretty much swapping the stock in both tanks around, but didn't realease PH difference was soooooooo much, mainy because the 40x30x20 has a huge crypt in there.

is the flower ray going to apreciate the much lower PH?

Cheers Paul.

I'd be very wary of keeping any ray in a tank with a ph below 6. Its too low IME & could easily crash & kill the ray.

good luck post some pics when ur done i wanna see the stups for sure

I was very surprised that it had got that low, all my other tanks are around 7.5, but most don't have plants in.

The tank has reguraly water changes usually being twice a week so wouldn't think PH would crash too easily as my tap water pretty hard aswell, Although on your point, I might do a large water change on it before moving her up to get the PH up a little and maybe trim the plant back a bit.

Although saying this she's eaten much better in the past few days so I don't want to upset her, looks like she might stay in the 4x3 for a touch longer. Proable just move the catfish and flagtails around.

Thanks Paul.

It's tricky.

Because flower rays are known to acclimate better in lower pH, preferrably below 7.0.

But, the thing is, you don't want to fluctuate the pH, because that usually does more harm than good. In general, a stable pH is better than anything.

If your ray is not eating at all, then I would do the transferring, but if it's doing fine and improving, then leave it alone.
