I would like to set up several single specimen sa/ca/big and angry tanks.
Water quality and filtration not being an issue what size tank is most appropriate for maximum adult growth size and enough swimmming space that it's not going to cramp there style ?
I lost the thread here of a bloke growing massive oscars and don't recall the tank size recommendations.
I'm moving towards several large single specimens such as jag,Midas,Oscar, devil, marakely. Aggressive stuff that probably didn't belong in a community tank.
I'm looking at 5ftx18wx24h.

Found that video.
He recommends 75% for the width of the tank.
75% of 24 is 18.
75% of 18 is 13.5.
Full grown Oscar 14 give or take a few genes.
Did I do this right. I suck at maths.

Bit on the tight side but doable, if you could go for 6 ft length it would be better
I'd go 8 but you know. Wives, kids, house. Needy bunch them lot. I would like the best possible size without crossing into the excessive.

this is the equation I used for some old salty predators I used to keep.

Tank (L+W) (inches)divide that buy the max adult length of the fish. If the answer is out of that is 4 that is the minimum while a result of 6 is about perfect. That is for salt though. Not sure how it holds up for the fresh princes. A 5x2x2 would be a bang on size for a Oscar using that.

slim chance finding a tank those dimensions....I had a 60"LX18"WX24H"

5'x'2'x'2 150 gallons while rare, are definitely out there. See them as discus tanks quite often.
