Best Tankmate 4 Pictus-Catfish?

I'm looking for any fish that would be a perfect fit for Pictus-Catfish.


Here's the info you'll need:

55 gal. Currently housing five 2-3" Pictus-Catfish and 1 Pleco.

Also I should mention. I don't want anything that will outgrow this tank.

Any advice is welcome.

Maybe an African Butterfly Fish, I kept them together for a while until the Butterfly jumped.

I love Pictus cats! Mine seems to have reached 6+ inches, he also wouldn't let me keep any other Pictus in his tank, even killed one! He is now mates with my Fire Eel, they are always in the same pipe or roots together when he isn't going mental swimming up and down the front of the tank!

I keep 3 pictus with a pair of Kribensis and a school of 7 zebra danio's.

I bought 3 more Pictus-Cat's (a total of 4 - all about 3" long) and added (a shoal??? of) 5 young Clown Loaches. Now I have a very active tank! My 55 gal. has never looked so good!! The CL's will only be in there until they grow out tho..


At first, I put them fast lil buggers in the big tank with my O', and he wasn't happy that he couldn't catch them for breakfast lol. So they lived in a big cave for a couple days.

So, since my fiancé insisted that my O" was lonely (and the CL's def weren't going to work out), I finally put the JD and O' together and they are best buds again. I swear it's like they seriously missed each other lol! And the CL's are doing perfect with my Pictus-Cat's in the 55 gal.

It's all good.

Glad it is working out for you!

If my Cichlids are anything to go by the situation could change at any time though!

Actually it's not working out... My clown loaches died of ich they were pretty cool while I had them but they didn't fight the parasite as well as the pictus cats.

I'm still wide open to advice for tankmates!
