Best thing to make the water Clear?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Carbon for some quick water polishing.

You could also try a diatome filter...

Floss (polyester foam), something really fine to take out the finest of particles in the water. You can get some from the crafts section at Walmart for really cheap, comes in a very large roll.

:iagree: Filter floss or Poly-Fill are the best quick fix. The real solution is to figure out what caused it in the first place.

polyfilter is the best much better than carbon :D

A diatom filter is the best, but expensive. You can't add that to a filter though, so using filter floss or the stuff they have at walmart or craft stores is the best media. (aquarium companies sell it for a lot more, you can get it much cheaper at walmart)

From what I have seen,
The more a person filters the smallest bits out of his aquarium or pond water, the more you need to change the filter media because it gets plugged faster.

For a very dirty tank I think if you were to add to your filter some very fine filter media that would catch all the little bits , you would find that your filter was then plugged within an hour or less of being turned on.

I wish there would be some way to "dial down" a filter so that at first you can catch and trap all the bigger bits. then change a filter setting and start to trap the smaller bits, then later trap all the little bits in the water...

You will need to put the filter media (carbon or floss or both) and change it everyweek. It will be very clear for sure!

There is, it's called a multi-stage filter. You start with course filter material and layer it with progressively finer media till you get to polishing pads. The coarsest ones are cleaned the most often.
