what is the best time of year for pike selection. i've noticed there will be alot of different species available for like a month or so, then other times it's hard to find two different species for sale. i assume it is weather or some other environmental reason in their collection locales that causes this. i really would like to get my pikes, but not knowing when to have the money ready is hampering my efforts. i know i should have my cash ready at all times, but that seems impossible around my house.

It's because during the Spring and Summer seasons the rivers and lakes they're collected in start to go shallow - making collection a lot easier, get back into the rainy seasons and water levels rise.

We're actually coming into the busy season for importing right about now - though with how global warming's been it seems to be getting later and later into the year - according to my LFS no big collection has started yet, but I'd venture to say within the next 2 months we'll start to see a lot of fish coming in.

any reliable rumors about what is coming in anytime soon? i know ken has some beautiful fish available in the near future, but way out of my price range.

Also depends on what country, rainy season is different in different places, usuallly Brazil is good from April until October then high water stops almost all collecting, Farther south in Argentia, Paraguay and Uruguay it's winter from June until Oct and no collecting then. Ken

Normally the pikes get HOTT around July, August, and September, then start dying down again. There are always occassional radical imports in the other months, but generally its those three months that it seems to pick up the most. Its the middle of the season, things are rolling smoothly, just right.

only pikes i have seen within 150 miles of my house (believe me i've looked), have been xingu 1 and 2-3 sax type pikes. not exactly easy to find around here. there are a couple of stores that will order some, but their suppliers only offer either "orange pikes" or "green pikes". there is one store that will order from rapps but it is just as cheap and quite frankly easier to do that on my own. ken has a bunch of fish i'm interested in, just waiting on the right pike to go with them haha.

Shadow and a couple of the other guys would most likely do a larger order with you. The larger the order, the cheaper it is. AP to AP especially. I'd be down for it too, except someone would have to come meet me half way...but for fish, its worth it!

Wait about a week or two....its possible the bottom might drop out.....;) :D
