Not exactly sure i have the right section.. but here i go. Ive got a 55 gallon very well stocked tank (aka over stocked) :p. And have Africans which i raised them all from babys. Electric yellows, powder blues, red zebras, 2 venustus, and a couple others. ( mostly 2 - 3 inches) Cant seem to find it in my heart to get rid of any of them. (upgrade soon, yay!) But to the point.

I never knew what exactly to feed them, they don't seem to like HBH pellets, yay for wasting 12 bucks. All they want to eat is flakes and cheap crappy cichlid pellets from walmart. I want to know what you guys feed yours, and what you think i should feed mine. Thanks in advance! :D

Edit: now that i think of it, it prolly should of gone in the african section...

New Life Spectrum is great food. Ocean Nutrition & the Omega One brand foods are very good too. If they like flake, just use a hi-quality flake like Omega One. I use an old flake bottle to mix up my Loaches diet. I use 2 types of Omega One flake (Super Color & Veggie) along with Ocean Nutrition Formula 2, Hikari Micro-Pellets & HBH ColorBright, all in different random proportions. I use a ton of hi-quality pellets from these same brands.

I like NLS and Tetramin color flakes. That's it and I have some rare plecos and the tank is in great shape. Just remember your weekly water changes too.

I use NLS, Hikari Gold and chopped up shrimp once in a while... but recently been just giving them NLS exclusively and I notice that their colors are much nicer...

I've just started using NLS, I like HIkari, and for flakes ON's prime reef. what I feed anything from my guppies, to my Arrow, Gar, Oscars, ect.. Africans like their Veggies abit more it seems. back when I kept africans I used a solid staple flake/small pellet and tossed in a 1/4"-1/2" thick slice or 2 of Zucchini when it's in season. (farmers market ftw!) They would go nuts for that. you can also try peas, broccoli, cucumber, ect.

The best diet is as varied as you can make it. Oh and my guys also loved frozen bloodworms, brine, and the veggie mixes they make for SW angel ect.

Thanks guys. Ill look into getting some of your suggestions!

Anybody know where i can get a fair amount of NLS cheaper then like 17$ for a little container? Lol it sounds like good stuff... but sheesh it'll make me go broke for how much i gotta feed my pigs...

NLS all the way
