I see cucumber and squash mentioned a lot, but is there a particularly healthy veggie to give him, or a kind that he's more likely to like? Also how large a piece should I put in (the pleco is 3-4" or so) and how long is it safe to leave it in?
some of my BN plecos are on pumpkins like crack
some like the tomatoes
some like the green beans not others
zucchini seems to be a popular pick
all you have to do is experiment little bit by little bit see what your guys like or not with your leftover cuttings when youre making your meals. That's what I'm doing right now. BTW I think BN plecos have their moods and seasons too as some of my adults won't touch the veggies certain time of the year only alage wafers/ protein stuff while other times they'll be happily munching on the "salad" I put in there.
OK thanks, I will probably try zucchini. I had a really thick algae mat going on my back wall and the stuff down near the sand (because I'm chicken when it comes to acrylic cleaning down near the sand bed lol) and I let him graze on that. He went through that quickly and started on the wood and rocks, so it's past time I supplemented for him.
