what is the best way to clean a used tank i just recently bought a used 120galon that is pretty dirty how should i go about cleaning it just with water and a few clean rags?

I just bought a used 100g. and that is what I did. I would also recommend you check for leaks prior to setting up. Mine needed a few of the seams redone. Look for silicone that is peeling on the edge or a milky white color.

all the silicone is black in color only seen too little spots that were peeling but i think the should be fine im going to fill it inch by inch the tanks only 2 years old it was filled once then stored in storage for the rest of its life

Rinse it out first...if it still looks bad use a light bleach solution (20 parts water to 1 part bleach) and let it do its work and then rinse over again a few times

Test a few cheap fish on it to make sure its safe (most likely will be) and then you're ready! :headbang2

Vinegar and water mix will safely clean the tank. Bleach will work if you rinse and dechlorinate well. If it's GLASS a razor blade works great for taking the crud off. That's the route I would go--if it's acrylic DON'T DO THAT! Ha.
