I want to put play sand into my tank.. because of looks an of course price in my 200 gallon tank... but how do you syphon your sand? wont it pull up the sand also? any tips would be great!

I wouldnt do play sand IMO i had it in my 150 and it made my water really really cloudy and didnt want to settle the first time i cleaned it and did a water change .... just finshed taking it back out

I love pool filter sand. It looks great and is easy to clean. I just siphoned it like gravel essentially, its a bit heavy to be sucked up all the way.
I'm impatient and suck a lot of sand, but at $5 for 50lbs its not exactly worth the time to be careful. I waste couple handfuls/week or 1 bag/year. After a couple of weeks playsand clears up and is as easy to maintain as pfs, but pfs is so clean out of the bag I don't bother rinsing it any more.
