Im trying to clean tons and tons of dried green spot algae on a 6ft long tank empty glass tank. Hot water, vinegar and elbow grease are taking forever. Any suggestions on speeding up the process?
Thanks!

Have you try just filling up the tank completely and letting it soak for a few days? Water is the universal solvent, so let the water do most of the work for you. Kinda like soaking dishes and not letting the food remenants dry out onto the dishes. After a few days of soaking, scrub with felt (the kind from craft stores). It should come off easily. If not keep letting it soak and just keep repaeting the process as need be. While it is soaking, you may want to cover the entire tank with a dark sheet/blanket to discourage new algae growth.

Thanks xraycer. Haven't filled it up yet, doing that tonight. Felt is a great idea for a nonabrasive scrubber.

Used filter padding works too as well as razor blade, just be careful around silicone.

Worst is when you get a used bargain tank that was a reef or saltwater. Man that takes some work! Need a friggin Jack hammer.

Thanks for the input everyone! Luckily its freshwater. I'm saving the razor as a last resort, that would take ages in a 6ft long. Hopefully a nice soak will loosen it up.

razor takes anything off glass in seconds.. perhaps get a longer razor... Best at getting paint of windows, and calcium buildup off glass... Its a lot faster than letting the tank soak, and yadi yada. but its your elbow grease
