Where the gators are
so i just got the pool fiter sand to use in my tank. 300 pounds of it. been cleanin it in a pot by running water over it and stirring it up. this is taking a long time, only been able to work with about a pound at a time. is there a better way to do this? open to all suggestions thanks

Get your self a large rubbermaid container. Dump a bag or 2 in and let a water hose or python run water in while stirring up the sand. Basically the same as you been doing just on a bigger scale.

:iagree:

I always use a 5 gallon bucket an clean about 20-25lbs at a time, that way it goes farely quickly, but I'm still easily able to lift the bucket to add it directly to my tank. And from my experience PFS doesn't need much more than a quick rinse to get rid of any dust.

hey thanks for the info. yeah need to go out and get some buckets haha

I used the bucket method for the first 50# then gave up and dumped the last 100 directly in the tank. A little cloudy till the first wc then crystal clear.
