Hi,

I have a 55 gallon, I started it about 2 weeks ago. I am having a problem with cloudy water. I tried a Tetra product and it hasn't worked. It is filtered with 2 Aqueon 75 filters and has 2 airstone going. The current residents, 6 zebras and 3 corys, seem to be doing fine. It just doesn't look right all cloudy like this. I know this is a common problem. What treatments work best and is there a natural way to clear the water without chemicals?

If it is just sediment or something floating in the water, carbon filtration and time will fix it.
If it bacterial bloom then you will need to treat with something or use a UV sterilizer.

I had the same problem about a year or so ago with a tank and a UV fixed the problem within hours.

When was the last time you tested the water parameters? Did bio media come with the filters?

Was the tank properly cycled
What are your water parameters like
Have you got any pics.

From what you've posted it doesn't sound like your tank is cycled. Adding fish and feeding them would normally lead to a bacterial bloom, which is what it seems you are reporting.

If that's is so, the tank needs to cycle. Reducing the feeding and adding some bacteria will eventually eliminate the cloudiness.

Just a suggestion, Try a
Hydro-Sponge Pro Filter

It's only on the 3rd week, I'll add bacteria and go easy on feeding. I guess I just wanted to make sure everyone, including corys had enough. Last time I had water checked was last Thursday and it was ok then. The cloudiness was an overnight change.

The sponge adds a large surface area for nitrifying bacteria to grow.
Its another way to add biological filtration.

Somehow i missed how new the tank was in the OP. I thought this had been up for a while. The problem will probably go away with some strict feeding and maintenance.

I would definitely try the other suggestions first. Then if it is a stubborn bacterial bloom consider the UV option.
