Hi everyone... I want to keep my catfish as healthy as I can and I keep reading to feed friut. Just was wondering what fruit they enjoy and the best way to feed so the fruit doesnt make to big of a mess. Any input you be great.:)

I've tossed in a couple pieces of mellon every now and then along with the stray piece of boiled zuccini for the snails and plecos she scrafs up. Other than that I havn't really made much of an attempt to feed my RTC any fruit. I know people who have kept RTC's for 12 years and more who never gave them any fruit at all. Catfish are scavangers by nature and will eat a lot of things they don't really NEED.

put the fruit in the tank.:headbang2

I've never had a RTC eat any fruit. I've tried at times and it never quite worked out. At that size stick with meaty foods anyway, when he gets larger if he eats fruit cool, if not I wouldnt sweat it.

I've fed grapes, melon, apples, and pieces of bannana. Usually only larger cats will partake. Smaller ones will sometimes take grapes. I don't feed it too often, but sometimes I will throw some in for a variety in their diet! I don't think it's absolutely needed to keep your cats healthy, but it never hurts either!

My RTC is large (36") so variety would be great. I normally feed pellets,
lg shrimp, fish and chicken. Thanks for the advise

Try stuffing fruit into squit if yr RTC is big it will eat the whole squit or cuttle fish without head of cost. tks

YW, but your response with the qoute of a 36" rtc now requires a pic. It is demanded from the catfish gods! JK, but seriously post up a pic!

I feed my 36" hybrid whole thawed fish, and shrimp, ocassionally bannanas.
