Trying to setup a 300 gallon rubbermaid stock tank indoor pond

I don't want to use canister filter for it though.

Thinking Ill just use a smaller stock tank as the sump. Question being is there anyway around having to put a pump down in te 300g to get water into the sump?

The 300g appears to have drain holes so wondering if anyone could suggest a way to make use of these for getting water into the sump

get a pond filter.....

or if you can set up a tower sump

the drains wont be any use for that purpose unless the sump is lower than the pond, which i assume it will be at ground level....

Yes the sump will be lower then the pond

ar rite, well the 300 will drain into the sump, then pump from the sump back into the main tank.

few things to think about:

having the water fall into the tanks will give good aeration but will be noisey, having the pipes go into the water will be the opposite.

go for a good turnover rate.

i have 2 300 gal stock tanks in my back room of my house. i have them tied together with a U shaped piece of pvc with a tower filter i built for about $20 out of a plastic free standing shelf and a 3 drawer plastic storage container. pump is in tank on left pumps to top of filter in tank on right water flows back to tank on left by using gravity to syphon and keep 2 tanks level.

if you use an external pump, you can use the drain holes to connect it to the pump, thus keeping the pump out of the 300g.
