Hi all. I need some advice from some of you that have been doing this for a while. I was wondering what the fastest way to grow out some sun cats and endlicheri is. Right now my thinking is lots of beef heart and keep the tank dark at all times. Dont know if this is the best way though. Just kind of thought it made sense.

Dont feed beefheart it isnt nutritious and there for will lead to bad growth. Feed them a good quality sinking food such as hikari sinking carnivore pellets. My polys have great growth from that. Also lighting wont do anything for growth

Feed tilapia and hikari pellets. They will grow fast. Frequent water change should help.

I happen to keep both sun catfish and Endilicheri bichir , i got them as juvies like 2 months ago , the doubled in size now and are still growing like weed ... key is :
1) water changes , water changes and water changes ... it helps to keep the growth inhibiting hormone and nitrates at very low levels .
2) I feed mine small bits of fish fillet , bits of shrimps and Hikari sinking pellets . I fed them at least 3 times a day .
3) Keep temperature stable at all times
4) do your monthly filter maintenance

Do they eat with the lights on? My sun cats disappear when the light cones on.

The Bichirs eat with the lights on , but the sun catfishes eat mostly when its dark , and occasionally come out during the day . You can install a moonlight lamp and watch them feed .

My sun cats (~5-6inches) eat Hikari Floating Pellets off the surface any time of the day. My small 1-2 inch ones also eat sinking pellets any time of the day.

I have massivore sinking wafers, frozen blood worms, frozen beef heart, red worms, and night crawlers ATM. We don't really have a lfs around here. So out of what I have what would be best until I can get to the store?
