what is the best was to introduce new fish to a tank? thy will be in a bucket, so cant really put the bag in the tank for a while from the pet store, i dont want to stress them out anymore then they will already be from the travel?

wwhen i bucket transport... i siphon of water or scoop water out of the tank there going into. if your siphoning then just a bit at a time. it slowly gets the temp close to that of your tank and gets them used to any changes in water chemistry slowly. then after awhile i just net them out or dump them in. depends on the size of the fish. big ones get netted and small ones get dumped

find out the levels and temp from the tank they are coming from ahead of time.. set the qtank up to match those levels.. then just drop the fish in the qtank along with the bucket water.. then over the next 3-5 weeks get the levels of the qtank to match those of the main tank...

if yer gunna do it... do it right..

Why go though all that trouble then just drop the fish in? How is that any better than cupping or dripping into the bucket? That makes no sense. All you need is to be relatively close on temp and quality. If your quality is so far off that it would possibly harm the new fish, you don't need to be adding it in the first place. Even a slight temp difference can be taken care of with a drip.
