Hey guys, My tank is about 7.6 and i wanna get it down to at least 7.2 what is the best way to lower the ph level, thanks.

Some peat in the filter or wood in the tank. Then make sure it has a strong buffering capacity so the p.h. stays stable....

IF you are wanting to keep rays, that ph should not be a problem. Trying to change you it may become a bigger problem. If you have to add chemicals to adjust you ph you have a good chance in having it fluctuate and that is pretty hard on rays.

:iagree:
Stability is more important.

ok, well if you guys remember a while back i had one die on me right away I think it was just the stress, it was pretty poor health wise when i got it but I had a 6 day garantee on it so i decided to try it and it ended up dieing on me... the pet store wants me to get my ph level down to 7.4 before i pick the new one up this weekend, as far as wood does it have to be for an aquarium or can i go out to the oak tree outside and stick some in the gravel i have?

I would use wood from freshwater, or order it on-line here on buy/sell, or try craigslist...

PH is at 7.6 is not a problem at all I would leave it alone there is no need to drop it. Rays are pretty hardy when it comes to PH they can be kept in the low 6's and all the up to 8's with no problem. What is the PH of the water at the pet store there coming from? If it's not a huge difference like 6.0-7.6 I would just slow drip the ray and let him adjust. To be honest if the ray is healthy PH will not effect them.
