Best way to measure inside width of a mitered box frame ?

If I were to do a mitered corner box frame what's a good way to measure inside width for a perfect fit for cross sections ? Unmitered is pretty simple, just add up the front and back with the middle to get the width of the stand. With the corners mitered, it's a bit different.
 
the best way is with a tape measure of course!

not quite sure what you are trying to accomplish, but i may have an idea....

hmmm if you trying to build a stand for your tank (duh right?) what'es the measurement of the tank?

example my 125 isss i think 72.375 by 18.25?

cut all your pieces to these dimensions and then cut the 45 degree without removing anymore material from your lengths.

if this doesn't answer your questions upload a drawing of what the heck you're talking about.
