Whats up! I wanted to remove any and all parasites from my tank! I currently dont have any fish in the tank as well. I believe flukes may be present. Is ick considered a fluke? I just want to do a thoro cleaning of the tank as a whole. I lost my big boy fish and parasites i believe was the call. Should i just use (quick cure)? or is there another effective method? Thanks

Also is (Prazi) good for parasitic treatment? Thanks

Just use 10% bleach solution to clean the whole tank. Ich are protozoans and will not survive after 24-48 hours without any host to find.

Should I add it to the water? Ive had two test goldfish in the tank the past three weeks and both died!
I should have clarified my post earlier. I meant cleaning the whole tank with bleach solution which means you have strip it down.

Where do you buy your fish? What fish did you lose earlier? Were the goldfish even healthy? Did they show any unusual symptoms before they died? What makes you think it is the parasites that are to blame? Did you check your water parameters? Does your store add salt in their tanks?

If you are suspecting flukes, do they scratch at all? If so, do they scratch the same area? Praziquantel can correct that problem but with goldfish, flukes are a common problem and therefore should be treated with praziquantel for possible fluke problems. Flukes however may not have been the issue in your other fish that died earlier.

If your store is adding salt, then chances are your fish are dying from osmotic shock. In this case, get another source and ask them their water conditions so you will not have to ponder if osmotic shock would be the result. Wherever salt is added, the conductivity level increases dramatically. Moving a fish from that environment to another with very low conductivity level eventually kills them due to the changes in their osmoregulatory system's ability to adapt.
