Looking to buy a bunch of different species and get an all male tank going as well as some yellow labs. I want to buy 1-2 inch fish.

Will a 30 gallon be big enough, or do I need to go bigger?

Sand substrate or bare bottom?

Bare tank or tons or rocks and pvc?

Any good online places to order from? Thanks!

My peacock fry go from breeder nets to bare bottom 10 gallon tanks. They will grow comfortably up to about 2" or so. Leave out the decor and they will be less prone to fighting as there will be less defined territory to defend.

If you're looking for something more than a sterile "growout tank", go with a 20 long or 30 long to get them up to that size.

Note that for many species, if you mix them, there will be no way to tell the females apart later.
